Wellbeing Sessions


Aimed at improving health and mobility. These sessions incorporate plenty of mobility work and stretching. Walking is at a gentle pace and participants soon realise that they can get fitter and keep improving whatever their current fitness levels. All Wellbeing sessions are instructed by a qualified Exercise Referral instructor. No prior Nordic Walking experience is required to attend these classes.


New class starts Wednesday 11th April, 11:15 a.m. at Rawcliffe Country Park, York. Your first class is free. Subsequent classes cost £4 per session. Use of poles included.

Learn to Nordic Walk


Learning the correct technique is vital to get the most out of your Nordic Walking workouts and to enjoy Nordic Walking safely. We teach the NWUK Learn to Nordic Walk technique course and you will be issued with a certification of competence card on completion of the course. You will then be able to attend any of our adventure walks, as well as attending walks with other participating Nordic Walking UK instructors. Technique courses cost £49 for the 4 x 1 hour sessions and competence card. Includes use of poles. Upon completion of course, competence card entitles you to discounts off poles purchased from Nordic Walking UK as well as other offers and discounts.


Saturday 11th February 2012, 1:30pm Rawcliffe Country Park, York. 2 hour basic technique course (session 1 & 2)
Saturday 3rd March 2012, 1:30pm Rawcliffe Country Park, York, 2 hour advanced technique course(session 3 & 4)


Friday 10th February 2012 and subsequent 3 weeks, 2pm Rawcliffe Country Park 


Thursday 19th April 2012, and subsequnet 3 weeks, 6pm Strensall Common


 


Adventure Walks


Longer walks taking in inspirational routes. A great social activity and an opportunity to discover new places. These walks normally last around 2 hours and set off from various locations. Correct technique must have been learnt either through my own Learn to Nordic Walk classes or with another Nordic Walking UK instructor teaching the LTNW programme.


Fitness Class


Aimed at those wanting to increase fitness levels, or reduce risk of injury from other activities. The fitness classes incorporate different speeds of walking along with various drills and exercises. For those wanting to push themselves further, we include bounding, skipping, running and circuit type exercises. Classes also include exercises to improve gait, strengthen core and lower body and to increase upper body strength.


Must have attended a familiarisation session (first Wednesday of each month at 6pm) or Learn to Nordic Walk course before attending classes.


Wednesday evenings 6:30pm Rawcliffe Country Park. Classes cost £6 per session paid in blocks of 6 weeks (£36). Use of poles included.
